You'll also want to decrease the gain of your instrumental about 5 decibels to give room for your vocals and master chain. Once you're finished mixing your vocals you can go through mastering chains to find the perfect sound that elevates your song as a whole. Make sure to open the last metering plugin on the chain and you'll increase or decrease the gain of the limiter plugin before it until it hits -9 RMS (Radio Standard Loudness)
