5 Steps to Load a Vocal Preset in FL Studio

    1

Download & unzip your preset pack

Most preset packs arrive as a .zip. Right-click the file and choose Extract All (Windows) or double-click it (Mac). Inside you'll see .fst files — these are FL Studio Mixer Track State presets.

    2

Move the .fst files into your FL Studio Presets folder

Open File Explorer / Finder and go to Documents > Image-Line > FL Studio > Presets > Mixer states. Drop your .fst files inside. (Tip: create a sub-folder like "Baywood" to keep them organised.)

    3

Route your vocal to a mixer track

Drag your vocal recording into the Playlist. In the Channel Rack, click the vocal channel and set TRACK to an empty mixer insert (e.g. Insert 3). Now the audio flows through that mixer track.

    4

Load the preset onto the mixer track

Select that mixer insert. Right-click the track name > File > Open mixer track state. Browse to your .fst preset and click Open. The whole vocal chain — EQ, comp, reverb, delay — loads instantly.

    5

    Fine-tune to your voice

Every voice is different. Lower the compressor threshold if your recording is quiet, ease back the reverb wet knob if it sounds washed out, and nudge the EQ presence band (3–5 kHz) to taste.

FL Studio Mixer Presets folder path

    Windows:
    C:\Users\YOU\Documents\Image-Line\FL Studio\Presets\Mixer states
    Mac:
    /Users/YOU/Documents/Image-Line/FL Studio/Presets/Mixer states

Don't see the folder? In FL Studio go to Options > File Settings and check your "User data folder" location — the Presets folder lives inside it.

How Much Time Are You Losing?

The average artist spends 2-4 hours per song tweaking EQ, compression, and reverb settings manually. That's 100+ hours a year you could spend writing, recording, and releasing music. Our presets cut mixing to under 10 minutes.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a vocal preset to a mixer track in FL Studio?

Right-click any mixer track in FL Studio, choose "File > Open mixer track state", then browse to your .fst preset file and select it. The entire effects chain — EQ, compression, reverb, delay — loads on that track instantly.

Where do FL Studio vocal presets (.fst files) go?

Place .fst files in: Documents > Image-Line > FL Studio > Presets > Mixer states. Once they're in that folder, they show up in the FL Studio Browser under Mixer presets for one-click loading.

Why won't my vocal preset load in FL Studio?

Three common causes: (1) the .fst file is still inside a .zip — you must unzip first; (2) the preset uses a plugin you don't have installed; (3) you're right-clicking the channel rack instead of a mixer track. Vocal presets only load onto mixer tracks.

Do I need to route my vocal to the mixer first?

Yes. In the Channel Rack, click your vocal sample/recording, set the TRACK number (top-left of the sample properties) to an empty mixer insert, then load the preset onto that mixer track.

Will these presets work in FL Studio 20, 21, and FL Studio Producer Edition?

Yes. .fst mixer state files are compatible with FL Studio 20, 21, and all editions from Producer Edition upward. FL Studio Fruity Edition does not include the Mixer, so presets won't work there.

How do I save my own vocal preset in FL Studio?

Once you've dialled in your effects chain on a mixer track, right-click the track > "File > Save mixer track state as..." and save the .fst into your Mixer states folder. It'll appear in the Browser next time you open FL Studio.
